Welcome!

Welcome to the Children, Youth and Women's Health Service Baby Friendly Health Initiative (BFHI) e-learning program website (formerly the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative).

This program supports a continuum of care for breastfeeding knowledge from the hospital to the community.

The e-learning program has been designed to meet Step 2 of the educational requirements for Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative and Baby Friendly Community Initiative. The Baby Friendly Health Initiative is a joint program of the World Health Organisation and UNICEF, launched in 1991. The initiatives aim to give all babies the best start by providing health care environments where breastfeeding is the norm and where health care practices which support, protect and promote breastfeeding are followed.

Who can use the e-learning program?

Anyone can use the e-learning program but it would be most useful for health professionals or students wishing to gain further knowledge about breastfeeding.
The program could also be a useful tool for midwives wanting to update their breastfeeding knowledge.
